What you can manage

Every record a small business needs

A zone editor for one domain, nothing else to configure or pay for.

A and AAAA

Point your domain or a subdomain at a server, for a website hosted anywhere.

CNAME

Alias one name to another: www, shop, or a hosted service such as a booking or store platform.

MX

Send your email to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or any other mail provider.

TXT

SPF, DKIM and DMARC for email that lands in the inbox, plus ownership checks for Google and Microsoft.

SRV and CAA

Service records for Teams, SIP and other apps, and CAA to control who may issue SSL for your domain.

Common setups

The records to add, for the things people usually connect

Always use the exact values your provider shows you. These are the usual patterns.

Email on Google Workspace

Google now uses a single MX record. Add it, remove any old MX records, then add SPF so your mail is trusted.

TypeNameValue
MX@smtp.google.compriority 1
TXT@v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~allSPF

Email on Microsoft 365

Microsoft shows your exact MX value in the admin centre under Domains. It follows the pattern below.

TypeNameValue
MX@yourdomain-co-ke.mail.protection.outlook.compriority 0
CNAMEautodiscoverautodiscover.outlook.comOutlook setup
TXT@v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -allSPF

A website hosted somewhere else

Point the bare domain at your host's IP address and www at the bare domain. Your host gives you the IP.

TypeNameValue
A@203.0.113.10your host's IP
CNAMEwwwyourdomain.co.ke

Prove you own the domain

Google Search Console, Microsoft, Meta and payment providers ask for a TXT record. Paste the value they give you.

TypeNameValue
TXT@google-site-verification=…example

How it works

Ordered, pointed and editing in minutes

Questions

DNS Manager, answered

What is DNS Manager?
A way to control the DNS records of a domain you own without buying a hosting plan. You get a zone editor for the domain: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV and CAA records, and DNSSEC. It costs KES 250 a year plus VAT (KES 290 invoiced).
Do I need to buy hosting?
No. DNS Manager is for people whose website and email live elsewhere, for example Google Workspace for email and a website builder or another host for the site. It does not include web hosting or mailboxes.
Does it work with a domain registered somewhere else?
Yes. Any domain works, including .co.ke, .ke, .or.ke and .com registered with another registrar. Change the domain's nameservers at that registrar to ns1.hospital.or.ke and ns2.hospital.or.ke and the records you set here take effect.
How long do changes take?
Record changes are live on our nameservers immediately. Resolvers that cached the old value keep it until its TTL expires, usually an hour or less. A nameserver change at your registrar can take up to 24 hours to spread.
Can I set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 email?
Yes. Add the MX and TXT records the provider gives you; the examples on this page show the usual values. If you get stuck, our support team will check your records with you.
How many domains does one DNS Manager cover?
One. Each domain you want to manage needs its own DNS Manager service.
What happens if I stop paying?
The service is suspended and then removed, and the domain stops resolving through our nameservers. Before you cancel, point the domain at other nameservers so nothing goes offline.
